The story of B&B
The first post I write, and thereby the most difficult! Who would know I would feel such pressure putting words on paper, when I normally am the kind of person that speaks before they think. A lesson I need to learn, and probably a reoccurring theme in posts to come, as the idea of the blog will be stories of our lives, tied together by recipes of the foods we love. Which leads to paramount question of this post, who are we, and why this blog? So, let me introduce us, and let me tell the story of how this blog came to be :)
We are three friends, all living alone, all three late-twenty-ish, all with a love for cooking and traveling. Bubbles is the wine-aficionado of the group! While I do not shy a glass (or a bottle), she has the knowledge of pairing the right wine with any food, from a simple Friday taco (which goes surprisingly well with Champagne), to a full Sunday roast. The wine recommendations on the blog will therefore be by her, and she will find both a fancy, lavish option for when you try to impress your latest Tinder date, as well as a more affordable choice, for when you are with the girls and know you need to save some cash for the taxi ride home ;)
Number two in our team of three is Bacon. She is the youngest of the bunch and looooves to cook. She travels a lot for both work and love, as her boyfriend lives at the other end of the globe. Bacon and I met three years ago and soon discovered our mutual passion for food and started making 'end-of-the-month-clear-the-fridge-dinners'. Bacon has a talent for taking beautiful pics, much to the annoyance of the people who have to wait with digging in and stuffing their faces until the perfect picture has been taken.
I, myself, have always loved food and cooking. I love whipping up a feast for and with friends on the weekend, but I equally enjoy having people over on a weekday for a simple and quick curry or pasta. Since I have only recently entered the 'single-life', I am learning to cook for one, and to use produce I have left from previous recipes. This is something we will try to incorporate in the blog as well. Not only because we wanna save some money where we can, but also from a viewpoint of not wanting to be wasteful.
Bubbles, Bacon, and myself found ourselves overwhelmed with wanderlust last Christmas, and booked a trip to travel Asia on a whim. Over a few (and then some more) cocktails we decided to combine our interests and talents, and over breakfast the next morning, while regretting the last drinks, we did not regret the idea of the blog, and this is how Bubbles and Bacon became to be!
So here's to hoping you love our recipes and stories as much as we do!
